North Rhine-Westphalia combines tradition and innovation in a way that hardly any other state can match. The best example of this is the structural transformation of the Ruhr Area from the hub of the coal and steel industry to a service and knowledge society. The linking of industrial culture and modern design, or of historical buildings and innovative ideas, is part of this state’s tradition. We shall show you some examples here.
